To manually install the Microsoft Loopback adapter, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel
- If you are in Classic view, click Switch to Category View under Control Panel in the left pane
- Double-click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Next
- Under See Also in the left pane, click Add Hardware, and then click Next
- Select the "Yes, I have already connected the hardware" and click Next
- Select the "Add a new hardware device" option and click Next
- Select the "Install the hardware that i manually select from the list (Advanced)" and click Next
- Select "Network Adapters" and click Next
- In the Network Adapter box, click Microsoft Loopback Adapter, and then click Next.
- Click Finish
Setup for Loopback:
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- Click Network Connections
- Find the Loopback connection (it will be named Local Area Connection or Local Area Connection 2 if you already are in a LAN)
- Right click and select "Properties"
- Select the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties
- Check the "Use the following IP Address"
- IP Address: 10.1.1.1 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Click OK
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel

Setup for Loopback:
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- Click Network Connections
- Find the Loopback connection (it will be named Local Area Connection or Local Area Connection 2 if you already are in a LAN)
- Right click and select "Properties"
- Select the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties
- Check the "Use the following IP Address"
- IP Address: 10.1.1.1 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Click OK
